If you grew up, as I did, in a small town, or more accurately a tiny village, and in the middle of nowhere, you will understand this post far better than other readers.
So, isn't it sort of sad to watch a long-running television series like, say, I don't know, NBC's "E.R.," and see the lingering hangers-on, in this particular case the likes of Noah Wyle, Laura Innes, and Sherry Springfield?
They're like your high-school classmates who just stuck around waiting for something to happen in a town where nothing ever did.
Rather pathetic.
