It’s difficult not to question the motives of some of the groups and people most actively seeking to convince America’s zoos to relocate their elephants, but on the whole, it’s even more difficult to question their arguments when it comes to this particular species. And so it’s good news that the Bronx Zoo, according to an article in today’s New York Times, is making plans to phase out its exhibit, though with a fairly long and vaguely defined time horizon for doing so.
