The Rittenhouse Review
Columnist Ronnie Polaneczky writes in today's Philadelphia Daily News:
Now we have the possibility that the Tasty Baking Co. -- maker of a product that Philadelphians identify with and adore -- may relocate, replaced, in part, by a slots casino.
It's a degrading trade.
Against that backdrop, losing Tastykake would be like losing the Liberty Bell.
It's at moments like this that I am reminded I'm not a local. At least not in the born-and-raised sense of the term, because I'll tell you, if you promise not to spread the word, I don't like Tastykakes.
Never had one? Think of the also-awful Hostess Cupcakes, only baked on a budget.
